ON SFINCS, ON BLUE HORIZON BOOK 2, AND A BRIEF OUTLINE OF THE FUTURE OF THE EPIC SCIENCE FANTASY NOVEL SERIES
10/09/26:
(Hello to blog post 69 on this site. 😏)
I’VE BEEN PUTTING OFF CREATING BLOG POSTS, but this one I plan to be a part of the newsletter as well, because…!
I ENTERED “THE PROTECTOR’S MEMORY OF THEM UNDER THE SUNLIGHT.” INTO THE SPECULATIVE FICTION INDIE NOVELLA CHAMPIONSHIP…! ALSO KNOWN AS SFINCS.
Incredibly curious how it’ll go. They’ve set up teams for it.
So… Another reason this particular blog post will go into the newsletter is…
I want to discuss my future plans when it comes to Blue Horizon’s epic science fantasy series beginning with The Protector and the Annihilation. I’ve finally gotten my mojo back when it comes to working on Blue Horizon again and am juggling some projects for it. Thus...
This means my enthusiasm for Blue Horizon Book 2 is growing again. I want to sit down and finish draft 1 of Blue Horizon book 2 in the coming months.
For those who have read The Protector and the Annihilation, I want to give a brief outline of how the upcoming books will work. The first book, as readers might understand, was about “memory” and “the future.” Part 1 and Part 2.
While the upcoming books…
Will focus on Antonio Chandrani-Rivera and Layla Chandrani growing up from 13 years' age and beyond (Layla will be 15 years' age and beyond). The main glue of this series will be time progression via their growing older. Let me explain a bit.
Book 2, which I've written a quarter of, will focus on Antonio Chandrani-Rivera from 13 to 14, and likely to him and his twins’ 15th birthday. Then Book 3 will be at 15 to 16 years old. Book 4 will be same(?), potentially.
Book 5 will be 17 to 18. (We will learn what happened to Fernando Chandrani-Rivera.) Book 6...essentially we go up to the year 9999 ATF, which is their early adulthood.
The books will go into painful subjects. I’ve decided that the main comic won't be as heavy, even as it, too, explores Spectral Clan caste and gender roles.
Despite what’s noted above—the glue for the series being the characters aging—of course, those who’ve read know! Adult Antonio and his crew will feature on the occasion. Beyond them, there happens to be Ranvir and Armando’s generation and their storyline, Nasir and Leila Hadid and their crew’s storyline both 10k years ago plus as Ancients in the modern era, along with a few "secret" storylines (e.g. originally Antonio Khan-Gill's era, but now they'll help me out re: structuring the comic, lol).
So Antonio Chandrani-Rivera and his adventures at around 16 years’ age MAAAAAY be longer. We'll see.
FOR READERS OF THE PROTECTOR AND THE ANNIHILATION, what you can expect in Book 2 is—
THE INTRODUCTION OF THE CHANDRANI FAMILY. Ranvir Chandrani’s place among his family will be obvious. Antonio and Layla’s stressors amid their family will be big—the family has long been split into two factions, and those two factions secretly despise each other… Or so it seems.
You can expect A LOT more on Fernando Chandrani-Rivera and Diego Garza. I wrote around 3 to 5 drafts of their early meetings before I became satisfied with what I wanted to do. They might not be exactly as you expect, but their cores will stay.
LAYLA will deal with her main subplot near the end of the book.
ANTONIO’S main secrets will be hinted at or come to light, such as during his first story arc. His and Alejandro’s relationship will be gone into extensively.
THERE WILL BE MUCH MORE OF THE KESTRAL CLAN, the alien people who can transform into animals…! There will be A SURPRISING AMOUNT of main kestral clan folk introduced.
There will be these storylines…and beyond! I’m likely to add in a first serious storyline for Nasir and his crew. Of course, since Book 1 extensively focuses on Ranvir and Armando, while they will show up, their main story arc will be brought back LATER.
I’ll be honest here—
Ranvir and Armando’s later books’ storyline will involve genocide. I created this series in the 2000’s while processing what happened to Bangladesh for generations. However, this will be a series dripping with love and affection. That’s all I can say about that.
